Cord Blood can save lives, July Brings Awareness

What is cord blood? It is blood from a humans umbilical cord, which is a source for stem cells. Blood can be taken form umbilical cords soon after a baby is delivered, it contains a small number of adult stem cells that mature into healthy blood cells. When the umbilical cord is donated, it poses a very little risk to donors, and life saving blood can be stored and frozen for years through companies.

According to cordbloodawareness.org, out of 4 million births in the U.S. More than 90 percent of the stem cells are discarded as medical waste. Appoximently 1 in 3 people in America can benefit from regenerative medicine. Families in the U.S. have only one chance to collect each child's cord blood. Learn more about cord blood today!
