This Month Brings Awareness to Thyroids!


It’s Thyroid Disease Awareness Month. “While approximately 59-million people in the US suffer from thyroid issues—the great majority aren’t even aware they have a problem.” Your thyroid is an endocrine gland that produces hormones. These hormones control many activities in your body, to how fast your heart beats to how many calories you burn. It’s important that you have a healthy thyroid and that it is properly functioning right for the body’s overall well-being. There are many diseases a thyroid can get. Both adults and children can get these diseases.

“An estimated 15 million of Americans have undiagnosed thyroid problems. To help with early detection and in some cases help you find lumps or enlargements in the neck that may point to a thyroid condition, you can perform a simple Neck Check self-exam. Here is a step-by-step guide.” (There are many signs that can indicate that something may be wrong with your thyroid. Some signs such as fatigue, weight changes, muscle and joint pains, swollen neck, hair and skin changes, constipation, menstrual abnormalities, depression, and if you have family history of thyroid problems.
